Safety Considerations in Domestic Electrical Services

As of January 2005, all electrical installations have to follow the Part P Building Regulations by law.

These regulations state that maintenance, repair and other electrical installations have to be either:

Approved by a local building authority control department
OR undertaken by a 'competent person'.

That competent person can self-certify that the work they have carried out is to British Standards, and they must then provide both the client in question AND the local authorities with the relevant documentation for all electrical work carried out.
